Ringier orders home office for Blick journalists

Many journalists from the Blick editorial team have been working from home since Monday until further notice. With this precautionary measure, the media group wants to protect employees from a possible infection at work and on the way to work. No orders have yet been issued for the Tamedia media and those of CH Media.

Ringier media spokeswoman Alina Bolz confirmed a corresponding report from the online platform persoenlich.com when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency.

The home office measure affects around half of the workforce, which is not dependent on the infrastructure in the newsroom and does not necessarily have to be on site. However, this proportion could vary depending on daily planning. However, there is no confirmed coronavirus infection in the newsroom.

At the TX Group, to which the Tamedia media belong, the recommendations of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH) are strictly followed, said Andres Nitsch, responsible for communications, in response to an inquiry. The individual departments would decide whether and to what extent they would go beyond these recommendations and, for example, recommend or even prescribe home office.

TX Group cancels events and tours

In addition, the Group is no longer holding any major events. All internal and external events in connection with the annual results were canceled on March 10. They will be replaced by telephone conferences. For the time being, all guided tours and visits have also been canceled.

"Any measures at CH Media are implemented "pragmatically" on an individual basis, with a sense of proportion and in consultation with the respective superiors, as communications manager Stefan Heini explained when asked. In principle, the guidelines of the FOPH are also adhered to. The situation is constantly being monitored and reassessed. The situation is taken very seriously. The protection of employees is the top priority. (SDA)
