Among the permanently employed journalists in the editorial department of the BaZ there will be no layoffs, according to the spokesman. Markus Somm's successor not yet determined

It is not yet known who will lead BaZ in the future. Markus Somm will step down as editor-in-chief at the end of 2018. Tamedia will provide information about his successor in due course. The takeover by Tamedia will also change the appearance of BaZ. According to the Tamedia spokesperson, the new editor-in-chief will be involved in the planned layout adjustments. The same applies to strategies to strengthen the editorial location in Basel in the future - according to the press release, Tamedia wants to examine such strategies and, if necessary, develop them with the new editor-in-chief.
