In the canton of Fribourg, the newspaper of the future is being conceived
In the canton of Fribourg, four partners, including the French-speaking Swiss daily La Liberté, are looking into the question of the newspaper of the future. With the AINews project, they want to use artificial intelligence for press chatbots.
Besides the Liberté the project also involves the School of Engineering and Architecture, the School of Business and the chatbot developer DejBots. They want to use new technologies that change access to and consumption of information.
In this context, "the local press must innovate to meet readers' needs while withstanding competition from free information sites and social media," the four partners wrote in a statement Monday.
The use of artificial intelligence allows in particular the personalization of content for the readership. The project also wants to include the possibility of interaction with the reader. This can be done via dialog channels and messaging functions.
The project is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion Innosuisse. (SDA)
