Foreign rights mull ombudsman over reconnaissance series

Right-wing populists from nearby foreign countries have flooded the SRG ombudsman with almost 10,000 complaints about two educational series. Ombudsman Roger Blum speaks of abuse of the process.

"The mailbox was completely cluttered," Blum wrote in Tuesday's newsletter. By the end of January, critics had sent him a total of 9340 messages - always with the same text from different senders.

They complained about the two educational series "Dr. Bock" and "Jenny-Wanessa," which were aimed at young people between the ages of 13 and 17 and ran as SRF videos on YouTube and in the web player. The complainants criticized the "completely unscrupulous" way in which topics such as pornography, masturbation and oral sex were dealt with. Children and young people were confronted "in a deeply offensive, disgusting manner" with topics "that would make any decent person blush in shame.

Patriots against gay marriage

Roger Blum has watched the series and assumes that the complainants did not do so. He said that the series "Dr. Bock" was optimal education - the series was appropriate and fulfilled all conditions of the protection of minors. He could therefore not support the objections. He did not address the criticism of "Jenny-Wanessa" because the series had already ended.

According to Blum, the critics come from right-wing populist circles, mainly from Germany, Austria and South Tyrol. PatriotPetition.org describes itself as "an initiative of upright patriots" that, among other things, fights against marriage between homosexuals. (SDA)
