The No-Billag opponents have collected over 285,000 francs in one week

Operation Libero has already "more than reached" its fundraising goal after one week, as co-president Laura Zimmermann tells the SonntagsZeitung. A further 164,500 Swiss francs should now make it possible to buy the 20-minute cover.

The 284,982 francs and 59 centimes that the organization wanted to raise for the counter-campaign have thus been received in just under a week. Operation Libero wants to use the money to launch a nationwide campaign against the No Billag Initiative launch, print flyers and carry out campaigns, as Zimmermann says.

The survey published by the SonntagsZeitung last week is likely to have contributed to the rapid achievement of the fundraising target: 57 percent of voters are expected to support the initiative. (Werbewoche.ch reported). The survey results have caused quite a stir - even though the survey has come under criticism because, for example, senior citizens, who are likely to play a not insignificant role in the March initiative, were not represented in the sample.

The survey certainly helped to ensure that people were willing to donate to the counter-campaign, Zimmermann told the Sonntagszeitung.

Cover page should correct false arguments

Operation Libero, which has already successfully campaigned against initiatives in the past, has already set its sights on the next target: Another 164,500 Swiss francs are to help "burst the information bubble," as Zimmermann says. The aim is to get "the hard-fought discussion out of the social media and comment columns and into print". Specifically, Operation Libero plans to use the money to buy the cover of 20 Minuten and correct statements from the comment columns there. The target group is especially a young readership that is rather distant from SRG. (hae)
