20 Minuten Friday now only monthly, but thicker and soon also in French-speaking Switzerland

The lifestyle magazine 20 Minuten Friday is expanding its online presence and reducing the print edition in German-speaking Switzerland from weekly to monthly - but now in double the size. From 2018, this will also appear in French-speaking Switzerland. The changes will lead to three redundancies in graphics and production.

Since the launch of Friday-magazine.ch in the fall of 2014 in German-speaking Switzerland and in July 2015 in French-speaking Switzerland, 20 Minuten Friday has been able to continuously expand its online reach and traffic, according to a statement. To further strengthen its digital presence, the Friday blog will be completely revamped at the end of March 2018 and redesigned into a holistic lifestyle portal with a focus on "mobile first." Users can expect new stories and more video content on fashion, beauty, stars, nutrition, living, travel and society. New topics such as careers, budgeting and health round out the offering. Interaction with readers is to be strengthened by means of various social media activities and new communication channels, including a newsletter.

"20 Minuten Friday is already the biggest and best-known lifestyle publication for young women, but we see further potential, especially digitally. With the repositioning, we want to make 20 Minuten Friday the biggest lifestyle portal in Switzerland," explains Kerstin Netsch, Editorial Director 20 Minuten Friday.

Print now with ten issues and launch in French-speaking Switzerland

From the end of February 2018, the print edition of 20 Minuten Friday will be published in a new monthly rhythm with ten issues per year instead of weekly as before. The number of pages will be increased from 30 to 60 and new topics will be added. The layout will also be refreshed and the magazine will be printed on glossy paper. In view of the success of the bilingual Christmas and shopping specials, the printed magazine of 20 Minuten Friday will also be published in French in French-speaking Switzerland with ten issues per year.

Due to the lower number of print editions in German-speaking Switzerland, 20 Minuten Friday is parting ways with three employees from the graphics and production departments in Zurich. "We very much regret that we have to part with three valued colleagues as a result of the repositioning," says editorial director Kerstin Netsch.
