Editors of the Tribune de Genève will work in Lausanne

The concentration of the Tamedia publishing house on one editorial office per language area has consequences in French-speaking Switzerland for part of the editorial staff of the Tribune de Genève. Journalists from the domestic, foreign, business and sports editorial departments will work in Lausanne in the future.

"We will form a joint team in Lausanne," Ariane Dayer, editor-in-chief of Le Matin Dimanche newspaper, told news agency SDA on Wednesday. Dayer will head the editorial team of about fifty full-time positions. Not transferred to the joint editorial office for Tribune de Genève, 24 Heures and Le Matin Dimanche will be the local and culture editorial offices.

How the project will be implemented and which newspaper alliances will be affected is still open, she said. "This is a major reform," Ariane Dayer stressed. She confirmed that no layoffs are planned in the course of merging the editorial offices. "It's a big construction site. We can only manage it with the existing staff."

Even though all editors are guaranteed jobs for the next year, much remains open in the long term. Tamedia announced that it might not be possible to fill departures in the future due to declining advertising revenues. For the time being, only the editorial teams that produce the mantle will be merged in French-speaking Switzerland. There is also a corresponding project for services such as layout, picture editing, photography and proofreading. However, this is less advanced than in German-speaking Switzerland. (SDA)
