The two former ski racers Marc Girardelli and Marc Berthod succeed Bernhard Russi as ski experts, who spent more than 30 years commentating on ski races alongside Matthias Hüppi. Girardelli, 53, is one of the most successful ski racers of the 1980s and 1990s. During his 17-year career, the Austrian-born skier won four World Cup gold medals, the overall World Cup five times and 46 World Cup races - always for Luxembourg. The 33-year-old Berthod took two bronze medals at the 2007 World Ski Championships in Åre. In Adelboden, he achieved one slalom and one giant slalom victory in the World Cup. Berthod has already been on assignment for SRF Sport: At the 2017 World Ski Championships in St. Moritz, he impressed as a World Cup insider on TV, radio and online media.

Stefan Hofmänner will also be commentating on men's alpine ski races. Dani Kern remains a member of the commentary team for the men's races. Hofmänner has been working for SRF Sport in various capacities since 1997, with a brief interruption. The 50-year-old from Berne became known to a wide audience not least as a commentator on women's alpine ski races. Currently, he is commentating on other sports, in particular wrestling and gymnastics. The 48-year-old Kern has been working as an editor and commentator for SRF Sport since 1999. In addition to men's alpine ski races, he has been commentating on live broadcasts of national and international soccer for many years.

Dominique Gisin completes team of experts at women's ski races

The team of experts in the women's alpine ski races is also being strengthened: Starting next season, Olympic downhill champion Dominique Gisin will join SRF as an additional expert. She joins the existing team of commentators Jann Billeter and Marco Felder and SRF expert Michael Bont. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Gisin, now 32, won the gold medal in the downhill. She also achieved three victories and four further podium finishes in the Ski World Cup.

Former ski coach Michael Bont has been working as a ski expert for SRF Sport since 2008. Before joining Swiss radio and television, the 43-year-old served as slalom coach at Swiss-Ski and was head coach of the Finnish women's national ski team. The 45-year-old Jann Billeter has worked for SRF Sport in various capacities since 1997, for example as a presenter of "sportpanorama" and as a live commentator on ice hockey. Since 2014, the Graubünden native has been commentating on women's ski races. Marco Felder has also been commentating on women's alpine ski races since 2014.
