The next floorball playoffs can be seen live on television. This is based on a new agreement between SRG and Swiss Floorball.

SRG and Swiss Floorball have agreed on a partnership for the 2017/18 season. Including the already agreed broadcast of the floorball superfinals, it is certain: In March and April 2018, SRF two will show at least one floorball playoff game live on Saturdays. The other stations and platforms of SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR will also be able to report on the floorball championship finals.

The new agreement governs the live and post-production rights for the quarter and semifinals of the 2017/18 playoff season on SRG's channels and platforms. SRG already acquired the broadcasting rights for the floorball superfinals at the beginning of 2016 - as part of a contract with sponsor Mobiliar and Indoor Sports, the umbrella brand for the four indoor sports of basketball, handball, floorball and volleyball.

Ten live games on SRF two

Thanks to the agreements, the young indoor sport of floorball will increasingly be in the media spotlight in the coming year: In March and April 2018, SRF zwei will broadcast eight selected quarterfinals and semifinals live, in addition to the two Superfinals, which are already a fixed part of the program. The broadcast will take place on the Saturday evening before each match. In addition, the other stations and platforms of SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR will also have the opportunity to report on the 2017/18 playoff season.

Roland Mägerle, Head of Sport SRF and Head of Business Unit Sport SRG, explains the floorball commitment in a statement: "Fast moves and lots of goals - floorball is extremely dynamic and therefore very popular with the young generation. This is shown not least by the successful live broadcasts of the Superfinals in 2015 and 2016."

Daniel Bareiss, Central President of Swiss Floorball, has high hopes for the new media platform: "The upcoming broadcast on SRF zwei is an enormous opportunity for Swiss Floorball and at the same time the next logical step on the path that Swiss Floorball has taken. Thanks to the Superfinals, we have recently been able to show our sport to a broad audience and give the TV project a boost."

According to the announcement, the partners have agreed not to disclose the contractual details.
