This was reported by the French news agency AFP with reference to a spokesman for the paper. The magazine's management could not initially be reached for comment.

The editorial office of Charlie Hebdo in Paris was the target of a devastating Islamist terrorist attack almost two years ago: Twelve people were killed on January 7, 2015, including the cartoonists Cabu and Wolinski.

Minka Schneider will work as editor-in-chief of the German edition in Paris, AFP reported. The German edition will mainly contain texts translated from French. However, exclusive contributions are also planned.

The editors chose Germany, he said, because Charlie journalists were well received there during debates, and issues met with particularly great interest after the attack. The magazine is published in France with 110,000 copies weekly. (SDA)
