New apps for FM1 and FM1Today
To mark the first birthday of the FM1Today online portal, FM1 is presenting two new free apps: the Radio FM1 app and the FM1Today app. Thanks to swipe technology, users can find a wide range of news, entertainment, music channels and information about the FM1 world.
The new apps from Radio FM1 and FM1Today stand out especially for their innovative way of navigation: a cube that can be rotated with a swipe motion. This allows users to switch back and forth between the different areas at will. At the launch of the new apps, the cube has four sides:
- FM1Today: News and entertainment from eastern Switzerland and the rest of the world
- Radio FM1: Everything about the radio station in eastern Switzerland and a new music player with the Radio FM1 live stream and seven music streams for every taste (Hot, Rock, Charts, 80s & 90s, Clubmix, Gold and Summer Hits)
- The regional weather page
- FM1 Radio City, the biggest party location at OLMA
The reason for launching two apps with similar content is user behavior, as André Moesch, Head of Electronic Media Eastern Switzerland at the NZZ Media Group, explains: "We have noticed that our users have different preferences: Some prefer to tune in via Radio FM1, others prefer FM1Today. And that's exactly what's now possible with the two apps." The developers also revised the technology and appearance of the apps, as Christian Ortner, Head of Online, says: "Users of the FM1 and FM1Today apps can look forward to shorter loading times, better usability and a fresh design!"
With the launch of the online portal FM1Today a year ago, Radio FM1 consistently linked its radio and online worlds. FM1Today is produced by a convergent editorial team and already has over 200,000 regular users per month.
