Billag for Joiz?

Cédric Wermuth wants to save Joiz. The station should receive fees.

If it's up to SP National Councilor Cédric Wermuth, social TV station Joiz Schweiz, which closed last week due to over-indebtedness, is not yet at the end of the road. As the Aargauer explained to SonntagsBlick, the Swiss advertising market is too small for such a company. The private station should therefore be connected to the fee pool. He wants to submit a corresponding proposal in the coming fall session.

Wermuth regrets the closure and the associated loss of 75 jobs. "With the closure of Joiz, Switzerland will lose an extremely innovative project," he says. Joiz is always venturing into new, innovative formats, uses the potential of social media and also serves as a "television laboratory" that keeps bringing out talent.

The National Council is therefore asking the Federal Council to examine how the station can be continued. Various options are conceivable: A new start under the SRG umbrella or financing from the Billag fee pot. (hae)
