The new NZZ e-paper has been optimized for smartphones.After the NZZ relaunched NZZ.ch and the printed "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" last year, the e-paper now follows. The NZZ has developed the new e-paper app not only for iOS and Android, but also as the only media house in Switzerland to do so as a Windows 10 app. The app provides access to the entire NZZ world with the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung," the "NZZ am Sonntag," and all NZZ supplements and magazines, such as "Bücher am Sonntag," "NZZ Folio," or "NZZ Geschichte." The new app is optimized for all common mobile operating systems and display sizes. The download of the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung" and the "NZZ am Sonntag" now takes place automatically from 4 a.m. on request with a WLAN connection.User-friendliness and simple navigation on all operating systems and devices were the focus during the development of the app. Rouven Leuener, Head of Digital Product Development at NZZ: "We actively involved our customers in the development process in several phases to ensure that the new e-paper app meets their needs." For example, readers can now scroll directly from one article to the next using swipe gestures, use the publication either in the original finite layout of the newspaper or in a flexible reading view adapted to the respective screen size, and manage the storage of past issues individually.In addition to the e-paper apps, the NZZ has also revised the e-paper accessible via the browser and offers users an improved reading experience on this channel as well.NZZ has the most e-paper subscribers in SwitzerlandAround 60 percent of NZZ subscribers use our digital offerings - and increasingly on smartphones. According to the circulation certification of Wemf AG für Werbemedienforschung, the NZZ also has the most e-paper subscribers in Switzerland. "A large part of our readership also digitally appreciates a finite product with the reader guidance and weighting of the printed newspaper. That's why we have invested in our e-paper as part of our product innovation strategy and also optimized it for the smartphone. The app is our first digital product launch this year," explains Steven Neubauer, Managing Director NZZ Medien.Interested parties can test the NZZ e-paper app free of charge and without obligation for one month.
