Thomas Sterchi withdraws from Tamedia's digital advisory board

Thomas Sterchi is withdrawing from Tamedia's Digital Advisory Board at the end of March. This is to avoid conflicts of interest.

According to the statement, Sterchi wants to focus on Tom Talent Holding and thus avoid conflicts of interest. Tom Talent Holding, founded by Sterchi in 2007, operates Teleboy, among others. The online TV provider is thus in direct competition with Zattoo, in which Tamedia holds a stake.

The Digital Advisory Board advises Tamedia's Board of Directors and management on the further development of the digital business. Thomas Sterchi has been a member of the Advisory Board since it was convened in October 2013, during which time he has made a significant contribution to the further development of Tamedia's digital strategy. Thomas Sterchi is the founder of the Swiss job portal Jobs.ch, which is now owned by Ringier and Tamedia.

The advisory board is composed of the following individuals: Emily Bell, Professor and Director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York; Markus Gross, Professor of Computer Graphics at ETH Zurich and Director of Disney Research Zurich; Mathias Müller von Blumencron, Editor-in-Chief Digital Media "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung"; and Sverre Munck, former Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board and responsible for Strategy and International Media at the Norwegian Schibsted Media Group. The advisory board meets three times a year under the chairmanship of Pietro Supino, publisher and Chairman of the Board of Tamedia. (pd/hae)
