NZZ: New Head of International Department

The former London correspondent, Peter Rásonyi, is to become the new Head of International at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The position had been vacant since the appointment of Eric Gujer as Editor-in-Chief.

Peter Rásonyi will take over as head of the International section on October 1, 2015. He previously reported on politics and business from London for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung for six years. From 2003 to 2009, he was based in Berlin as NZZ business correspondent. He therefore has many years of experience from two important posts in the capital.

"Peter Rásonyi is a leader with clear strategic ideas and a great willingness to play an active role in shaping the current process of change in the media," says Editor-in-Chief Eric Gujer, explaining the choice. Gujer himself was Head of Foreign Affairs at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung until he was appointed NZZ Editor-in-Chief in March 2015.

Rásonyi was born in Zurich in 1966 to Hungarian-German parents. After studying economics in Zurich, he completed a traineeship at the Neue Zürcher Zeitung in 1993. Before taking up a permanent position as an editor in the economics department in 1997, he completed his doctorate at the Research Center for Social and Economic History at the University of Zurich. Rásonyi is married and has three children.
