Andreas Schefer appointed President of SRG German-speaking Switzerland

Andreas Schefer will be the new president of SRG Deutschschweiz (SRG.D). He was elected by the regional council on Monday to succeed Viktor Baumeler, the SRG.D office announced on Tuesday.

Schefer will take office at the beginning of 2016 and will also represent SRG.D on the SRG SSR Board of Directors in the future. As President of SRG Bern Fribourg Valais, Schefer heads one of SRG.D's seven member companies. The 54-year-old worked for Swiss Radio DRS from 1989 to 2006, initially as an editor and presenter, and from 1995 in various management roles, including as editorial director of Wort DRS 1 and as DRS3 program director. In 2007, Schefer moved to a communications agency. Since 2008, he has held a stake in OGS Beratungsteam AG and manages mandates in the field of communication and organization. (SDA)
