Seven layoffs at the NZZ

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) is cutting seven editorial jobs. The media company is not disclosing which departments are affected.

In total, there will be seven redundancies, NZZ announced on Thursday in response to an inquiry from SDA. The job cuts are part of the project adopted in 2013 to build a convergent editorial department based on the principle of digital first.

According to the NZZ, this project provides for an overall increase in personnel, but also for restructuring in some areas. It is therefore not a savings program. On the contrary: After the seven layoffs, the NZZ says it will actually have twelve more jobs in the editorial department than at the end of 2013. (SDA)
