SDA Group realigns strategically

The SDA Group is setting the course for a successful future. After more than 90 years of independence, Sports Information will be integrated into the SDA news agency as of January 1, 2016. The Board of Directors also defines the strategy for the coming years.

In a still difficult media environment, the sda Group performed well in the 2014 financial year. The cost-cutting and efficiency-boosting program initiated back in 2012 continues to have a positive impact, as Chairman of the Board of Directors Hans Heinrich Coninx writes in the 2014 Annual Report. Total income of the sda Group increased by 2.9 percent to CHF 38.4 million. The bottom line was a consolidated profit of 565'000 francs, following a loss of 1.24 million francs in the previous period. At that time, a fine imposed by the Competition Commission had led to red figures in the income statement.

The SDA Group includes the news agency SDA, the picture agency Keystone, sports information, the financial news agency AWP, the original text service News Aktuell (Switzerland) and SDA-Informatik. The group employs a total of 300 people, 14 fewer than a year ago. The SDA general assembly in Bern on Wednesday elected Sandra Jean, director of editorial operations at the Valais daily Nouvelliste and responsible for the ESH Group's magazines, to the board of directors. She succeeds Valérie Boagno, who is stepping down from this body after four years. The other six members of the Board of Directors were re-elected. (SDA)
