Transmission of the Tour de Suisse secured

The Tour de Suisse will continue to be shown on SRG channels for the next four years. SRG and the marketing agency Infront Ringier, which is now responsible for the Tour, have agreed to work together.

The contract for the TV broadcast runs until 2018. SRG has been involved in the most prestigious race on the Swiss cycling scene since 1991. At that time, the Tour de Suisse was broadcast live on television for the first time to mark the 700th anniversary of the Swiss Confederation. The Tour de Suisse is one of SRG's biggest annual live productions. The goal of this commitment has remained the same since the very beginning: With its broadcasts, SRG wants to unite people across language and cultural borders in this elite sporting race and enable them to experience the Tour de Suisse at first hand over more than 1,300 kilometers and 17'500 meters of altitude across Switzerland.

Urs Leutert, Head of Sport SRG/SRF, commented on the contract extension in a statement: "SRG is delighted to be able to continue its already traditional partnership with the Tour de Suisse under its new management. The lavish live TV broadcasts of Switzerland's most important stage race offer viewers in front of the screen not only exciting cycling, but also a voyage of discovery through well-known and lesser-known areas and regions of our country."

Olivier Senn, General Director of the Tour de Suisse: "Infront Ringier is looking forward to working with SRG. The high production quality new with race information and graphics for the viewers such as climb percentages, speeds, heart rates of the riders, which is recognized in the professional world, guarantees the audience the best possible cycling experience in front of their TV sets. In this way, we are also relying on continuity and the many years of experience of the entire SRG production team. We look forward to further developments in live broadcasting and know that SRG also wants to take a pioneering role here."

This year's Tour de Suisse will run from June 13 to 21, 2015, starting in Risch-Rotkreuz ZG. The finish is in the federal city of Bern.
