The best Swiss photo works 2014 are known
The shortlist with the 59 best works of the year 2014 has been determined. The international jury has evaluated 573 works with around 4,300 images and selected the shortlist and the 21 best works, which are nominated for the seven category prizes of 5,000 Swiss francs each.
The winners will be announced at the Award Night on Wednesday, May 13, in Zurich. The exhibition will then show the 21 best works and all the other shortlisted works on contact sheets from May 14 to 31. It thus allows visitors to form their own opinion on the jury's selection, seeing the final round of judging before them.
New location and new orientation from 2016
The main sponsor EWZ has supported ewz.selection for 14 years. This sponsorship is coming to an end as part of the reorientation of EWZ's sponsorship commitments from 2015. For this reason, the Award Night will be held for the last time at EWZ's Selnau substation before the Award moves to the Photobastei at Sihlquai 125 in the next few years. Since 2001, ewz has operated its own culture and event center at the Selnau substation in Zurich, where the photo exhibition is also shown each year.
The Swiss Photo Award showcases the full range of Swiss photography in advertising, fashion, architecture, editorial, reportage and art. For 17 years, it has annually selected the best works based on their high level of craftsmanship and artistry. The Photo Award is supported and borne by Swiss media, by the photographic industry, by various training courses and professional associations, by museums and galleries, and by the public sector.
