Blick celebrates 55th birthday

On October 14, Blick celebrates its 55th birthday. Since its founding, Switzerland's only tabloid has gone through numerous change processes.

Blick has been providing information and entertainment for 55 years. With a circulation of 163,627 copies (Wemf 2014) and 667,000 readers (Mach 2014-2), it is the most widely read paid newspaper in Switzerland. It shows faces that move and people that interest. With its own federal government, sports carries a lot of weight. Blick is political, independent in its stance. Editor-in-chief René Lüchinger: "Every day, Blick must surprise, delight. Explain Switzerland and the world. And: Yes, it can and must also be annoying. That's why it's 'The Newspaper for Switzerland' and not politically fixed or localizable."

The first issue of Blick ran on October 14, 1959, with the headline "The servant is not the murderer" and cost 20 centimes. In its anniversary issue, Blick presents the most impressive front pages, celebrities reveal why they read Blick and, as befits the tabloid, the love life of a 55-year-old is explained.

Blick works cross-medially and attracts readers to Blick.ch with exclusive content, service elements and competitions. Since March 7, 2010, Blick has been produced together with Sonntagsblick, Blick.ch, Blick am Abend and Blickamabend.ch from the newsroom in Zurich.

Michael Voss, CEO Ringier Publishing (pictured above): "Blick is Switzerland and Switzerland is Blick. I am very happy about Blick's 55th anniversary and am quite sure that the Blick Group with its various brands will continue to play an important role in Switzerland's media market in the future."

Just in time for the anniversary, Blick surprises with a large-scale, cross-media marketing campaign with advertisements, posters, inserts, mailings, online banners and even cinema advertising.
