Swiss media: Dengler replaces Stäheli

The Executive Committee of Schweizer Medien has a new member: the Extraordinary General Meeting has elected 44-year-old Veit Dengler, CEO of the NZZ Media Group since October 1, 2013, to the Executive Committee.

Dengler grew up in Austria, Hungary and Finland. Born in Austria, he holds academic degrees from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. During his career, he held various management positions at McKinsey and T-Mobile after Procter & Gamble. For seven years, Veit Dengler worked for the world's leading technology provider Dell, where he was responsible for business operations in 32 countries in Eastern and Central Europe. In 2012, he worked as Senior Vice President of the international business unit for Groupon. Dengler is a co-founder and was Deputy Chairman of Neos.

He replaces Albert P. Stäheli, Dengler's predecessor at the NZZ Media Group. Stäheli represented Espace Media from 2001 to 2007 and the NZZ Group on the Board of Schweizer Medien from 2009 to the present. He initially headed the Advertising Market Department, then the External Relations Department. From the mid-1980s onwards, Stäheli would have presided over the Media Association of Independent Newspapers, which he founded, for ten years. He then transferred this association and its assets to the Publishers Association.
