"Carlos": Proceedings against Sonntagsblick source

The "Carlos" case continues to occupy the Zurich judiciary: the public prosecutor's office has initiated proceedings against unknown persons for breach of official secrecy. They want to find out who leaked the pictures of devastated cells and corridors to Sonntagsblick.

On February 16, the Sunday View The Ringier Group has now released a large number of photos taken at the Uitikon Intervention Center (MZU). It is still unclear how the photos from the MZU ended up in an editorial office of the Ringier publishing house. However, because the pictures were taken without the knowledge of the MZU and should not have been released, the public prosecutor's office is now investigating for breach of official secrecy. A spokeswoman confirmed a corresponding report of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung on Wednesday. The proceedings were opened on Tuesday and the investigations are already underway.

Since the end of February in a new special setting

The offender known by the pseudonym "Carlos" has been in a new special setting since the end of February. It is significantly more favorable than the first, much criticized measure. After an initial phase abroad, "Carlos" is placed in a simple apartment with close social pedagogical support. The daily structure will consist of school, work and internships. Carlos" will only be able to attend sports training sessions in his free time. The new special setting was triggered by a ruling of the Federal Court, which harshly criticized the Zurich judiciary and ordered the release from the closed correctional system. The Zurich government would actually have liked to place "Carlos" in an institutional measure. However, "Carlos" was not prepared to do so. He insisted on a new special setting. (SDA)
