SRF: Urs Wiedmer leaves "Arena"

There will be a change of presenter at the "Arena" next year. Urs Wiedmer is moving to the Federal Parliament. He will continue to host the political discussion program until the summer break in July 2014.

Urs Wiedmer has been leading the debates on "Arena" since February 2011, alternating with Sonja Hasler. He previously worked as a domestic correspondent for Swiss television from 2007. In this role, he reported on politics, business, society, culture and sport. During various elections to the Federal Council, he kept a close eye on politicians and the population. From 1997 to 2007, Urs Wiedmer worked as a presenter, producer and editor at Swiss Radio DRS in the Bern Fribourg Valais regional editorial office. For seven years, he regularly presented the press review and also worked for the radio sports desk.

Urs Wiedmer has now decided to return to his passion for news as a political reporter and is moving to Bern as a TV correspondent for SRF. There he reports from the Federal Palace, but also produces reports from the region. According to the press release, the process to find a new presenter is now underway.
