NZZ am Sonntag and ZFF launch film magazine

In February 2014, the NZZ am Sonntag launched the film magazine Frame together with the Zurich Film Festival. It looks behind the scenes of the film and entertainment industry four times a year and reports comprehensively on the most important players.

The magazine will cover cinema, film and TV series with major reports, background reports, analyses, reviews and interviews with stars and directors. "Frame looks behind the scenes of the film business. It whets the appetite for new cinema films and TV series with in-depth and entertaining background articles," explain Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri, co-directors of the Zurich Film Festival. "But it also sheds light on the film industry and the Swiss film scene." Watching movies is one of the Swiss' favorite pastimes, yet there is no contemporary magazine in this country that gets close to the stars and directors.

"According to the Mach study, NZZ am Sonntag has the most film-savvy readership, which is why we are expanding our coverage of film and television with Frame," explains Felix E. Müller, Editor-in-Chief of NZZ am Sonntag. "We want to set ourselves apart from the existing offering in terms of content by going into depth in long articles. We won't bring 08/15 interviews from group appointments, but will visit Hollywood stars and industry bigwigs, whom we can get to thanks to the contacts of the Zurich Film Festival." Frame will present up-and-coming film countries with reports and report pictorially on which stars cut a fine figure on the red carpet in Cannes wearing which fashions.

The magazine also devotes a lot of space to home theater. Frame presents new TV series and tells which titles from the video-on-demand range are worth watching. The NZZ am Sonntag film editorial team is responsible for the content, but the pool of authors also includes representatives of the film industry such as This Brunner, doyen of the international film and art scene.

The first issue of Frame will appear at the end of February 2014 with a cover story on the Oscars. The magazine, which is published four times a year, will be included with "NZZ am Sonntag," but can also be purchased at newsstands and digitally in the iTunes store. Advertising sales will be handled by both ZFF and NZZ.
