SDA outsources night shift to Australia

The SDA news agency has outsourced the night shift positions, which take place between 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., to Australia. Employees are now to perform their duties from there.

Affected by the outsourcing are 2.4 jobs each in the German and French service. This writes La Liberté according to Schweiz am Sonntag. In this way, the SDA is saving money. SDA editor-in-chief Bernard Maissen explains, "Due to the night supplement, 7 night shifts correspond to about 10 day shifts." In this way, the workload per language service can be reduced from 2.4 to 1.6 positions.

However, there is another reason for the outsourcing. According to Maissen, the night shift is not very popular with employees. The 3.2 jobs newly located in Australia are to be divided among four people. According to Schweiz am Sonntag, SDA advertised the positions internally just over a week ago.
