Audience Council: Praise for "The Voice of Switzerland

The SRG Audience Council for German-speaking Switzerland held a meeting to discuss the shows "The Voice of Switzerland" on SRF 1 and "Virus TV. The former is professional and entertaining, while "Virus TV" is described by the Council as "original experimental cuisine.

"The Voice of Switzerland" is for the Audience Council a professional and successful adaptation of an internationally successful casting format for Switzerland. The show was entertaining and offered musical performances at a high level, the audience council said in a statement on Monday. The coaching team impressed the council with competence, credibility and authenticity. The inclusion of the audience via social media is welcomed, but the implementation was not yet fully convincing.

A majority of the audience council attests "The Voice of Switzerland" a high entertainment value. The music and the high-quality performances contributed significantly to this. The different stages and the mix of music show, competition, talk and recordings offered a lot of variety. The Blind Auditions were particularly well received by the Council. The panel considered the Swissization of the international format a success. In addition to the dialect, the Swiss cultural and linguistic diversity was well expressed with the inclusion of candidates from all parts of the country as well as representatives of the foreign population.

The audience council was also pleased with the positive approach of the casting show. The Voice of Switzerland" was about promoting talent, about support and appreciation, and not about exposure and insult as in other casting shows. The audience council described the composition of the coaching team as a good choice. The various coaches impressed with their competence, credibility and authenticity. They succeeded in spreading a positive mood. In the opinion of several council members, however, the performance assessments could have been even clearer and more critical - in a positively constructive sense. This was because there would definitely have been differences in quality between the individual performances.

The web presence Thevoice.srf.ch was very well received by the audience council. It was visually convincing and offered a lot of additional information. The attempt to increase interaction with the audience via social media on "The Voice of Switzerland" was welcomed in principle by the Council. However, the integration of audience reactions into the live show was not yet satisfactory. For the audience on the screen, no added value was created by the Twitter messages presented. Most of them were too banal and meaningless.

"Virus TV": Original experimental cuisine

"Virus TV" is a cheeky, unconventional music talk show for the young and young at heart, according to the audience council. Depending on the guest, the show could also appeal to audience segments outside the Radio SRF Virus audience. The integration of radio, television and online is well underway. "Virus TV" is entertaining, but a little more depth in the conversations would do the show good.

A majority of the audience council was positively surprised by the still little-known program "Virus TV" on Friday evenings on SRF zwei. The Council welcomes the fact that such a program finds a place in SRF programming as a media and satire experiment. In the eyes of the audience council, "Virus TV" is fresh, varied, original and funny. The audience council judges the selection of guests to be broad and varied. This could also attract viewers outside the Virus target audience. The dual moderation by Anic Lautenschlager and Andi Rohrer is well received by the council.

While the entertainment value of the program is undisputed in the audience council, some council members rate the information content as relatively modest. "Virus TV" contains various elements and actions that make the program entertaining and varied. However, they do not always meet the taste of the entire council. Some council members, for example, find the ritualized trip to the toilet original, while others could do without it. Many find the outdoor activities funny and entertaining. For others, they sometimes spill over into annoyance.

The audience council describes the amount of interactivity and the online offering as appropriate and successful. The references to the website and Twitter are clear, but not obtrusive. The website of "Virus TV" is simple and clear. The audience council would like to be able to access the radio program online as well as the TV program.

The radio program on SRF Virus that follows "Virus TV" is also well received by the majority of the audience council. It is spontaneous and intensive, and in some cases offers more information content than the TV show. However, it is a particularly big challenge to transfer the TV audience to the radio.
