Comprehensive relaunch for Observer Nature

Beobachter Natur will be published for the first time on May 4, 2012 with a new look and new layout. In future, the magazine, which was launched two years ago, wants to present itself "even more independently, with a higher profile and fun magazine journalism".

The May issue of the magazine will not only feature innovations in terms of content, but also some visual innovations, writes Axel Springer Switzerland in a press release on Wednesday. The new claim is intended to get to the heart of the new features: Beobachter Natur is "the surprising environmental and knowledge magazine" in Switzerland.

"According to market research results, Beobachter Natur is experiencing above-average growth among the female, urban-modern readership aged between 30 and 59. We want to focus even more strongly on this target group in future," says Peter Ackermann, the new editorial director since September 2011. More independence, more profile - that also means more distinctiveness. "We are and will remain a magazine about nature, the environment and knowledge. But we are setting new, more feminine accents: Beobachter Natur will focus more strongly than before on women-oriented topics with psychological, social science and everyday references," says Ackermann.

The more emotional approach to the content is reflected in the rejuvenated appearance, implemented by Art Director Michael Adams, it continues. The fresh cover in particular, which emphasizes the new value, surprises with more (play) space and a more generous, modern aesthetic. And this design principle is also continued on the inside, be it in the use of typography or in the dramaturgy of the magazine.

In terms of content, the magazine aims to offer more practical value, make for enjoyable reading and always provide food for thought and discussion - with in-depth monothematic focuses, reports, portraits and interviews, columns and essays.

The first issue of Beobachter after the relaunch will be published on May 4, 2012.
