Radio 105 launches on DAB+

Radio 105 will be receivable throughout German-speaking Switzerland via digital radio DAB+ as of today, Friday 12:00. Thus, Radio 105 will be receivable mobile (i.e. also in the car) from Zurich to Bern, from Lucerne to Basel to St. Gallen or Chur.

Radio 105 can massively expand its broadcast area with distribution via DAB+, the station said in a statement. For 105 managing director Giuseppe Scaglione, this marks the beginning of a new era: "It has always been my dream to operate a radio station that can also be received on mobile devices throughout German-speaking Switzerland."

To date, around 800,000 DAB devices have been sold in Switzerland. A large increase in sales figures is expected for the next few years. It is assumed that around 3 million devices will be on the market by 2015. In German-speaking Switzerland, more than 25 stations are already on the air via DAB+, including some that have no place on FM - such as DRS4 News, Radio Eviva and DRS Musikwelle.
