Bieler Tagblatt: Bernhard Rentsch becomes editor-in-chief

Bernhard Rentsch will succeed Catherine Duttweiler, who will leave the Bieler Tagblatt after seven years at the end of November 2011 and move to BEKB, at the latest on May 1, 2012.

Bernhard Rentsch grew up in Pieterlen near Biel and has lived with his family in Sutz for more than ten years, according to a statement on Monday. After graduating from university as a gymnastics and sports teacher, Rentsch turned to journalism. From 1990 to 1995, he was sports editor at the Bieler Tagblatt. Rentsch held various management positions at the country's largest sports association, the Swiss Gymnastics Federation. He was editor-in-chief of the association's magazine, head of media and currently head of marketing and communications. The versatile journalist and Seeland connoisseur ran his own communications office for over ten years and also worked for three years as a presenter on Tele Bielingue.

The 46-year-old succeeds Catherine Duttweiler, who headed the Bieler Tagblatt as Editor-in-Chief for seven years. Duttweiler is moving to BEKB at the beginning of January 2012, where she will take over as head of internal and external communications from April. From December and until Bernhard Rentsch joins the company, her deputy Theo Martin will head the editorial department of the Bieler Tagblatt on an interim basis.
