Thurgauer Zeitung now under the Tagblatt mantle - merger in the Rhine Valley

There are two innovations in the press landscape of eastern Switzerland at the beginning of the year: The Thurgauer Zeitung has become the head paper of the St. Galler Tagblatt with its integration into the St. Galler Tagblatt Medien. In addition, the Rheintalische Volkszeitung and Rheintaler merged at the beginning of the year.

The Thurgauer Zeitung is now published as the head paper of the St. Galler Tagblatt with its own cantonal and regional section. The jacket and layout are taken over from St. Gallen. Four editorial offices in Frauenfeld, Weinfelden, Kreuzlingen and Arbon produce the three regional bundles. At the same time, the newspaper receives David fear a new editorial director.

With a circulation of 43,000 copies, the new Thurgauer Zeitung is the largest of the Tagblatt's seven regional editions. With the takeover of the Thurgauer Zeitung, the St. Galler Tagblatt has increased its total circulation to 126,000 copies. The front page of the new Thurgauer Zeitung differs from the St. Galler Tagblatt only in two columns. The "Thurgau" section is individually designed. In addition, there is a detailed local section.

The two titles have been appearing since Monday with the same local section, but with different covers. The publisher is the newly founded Rheintal Verlags AG. This is majority-owned by Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag AG (rdv), which prints the Rheintaler.
