Lidl Switzerland is the new main sponsor of Switzerland's largest organic trade show, Bio Marché. The company wants to underline its commitment to sustainability.

Since 2000, Zofingen has been the venue for Switzerland's largest organic platform and thus the Swiss "organic capital". For almost two decades now, the initiators of the Bio Marché have been pursuing a single goal: the promotion of organic agriculture and its products. The fact that this goal has become a success story is due to the unique trade fair concept. The Bio Marché takes place in the historic old town of Zofingen, the products are presented at traditional market stalls. The attention of the approximately 40,000 expected visitors thus belongs entirely to the organic products and the people behind them.

Last but not least, an attractive festival-like supporting program and free admission repeatedly succeed in introducing non-organic consumers to organic products and getting them excited about sustainability. Checks by independent specialist bodies guarantee that the 200 or so exhibitors - including the umbrella organizations Bio Suisse and Demeter Switzerland and their licensees - really do comply with the strict conditions for admission. But the organizers of Switzerland's largest organic trade fair also place the highest demands on themselves in terms of sustainability and demonstrate this commitment with a prudent choice of suppliers and infrastructure.

Lidl Switzerland has also set itself these goals - the steady expansion of the organic product range under its own "Bio Organic" brand is just one of the puzzle pieces in the smart discounter's sustainability strategy. Reto Ruch, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer, Lidl Switzerland, said in a statement: "For us, sustainability is more than a basic attitude. Responsibility towards the environment and society is firmly anchored in our corporate culture. Organic products and sustainable produce have priority with us." Lidl Switzerland's seriousness about its goal of becoming the most sustainable discounter in Switzerland is demonstrated, among other things, by the partnership it entered into with WWF Switzerland at the beginning of 2017. As the new main sponsor of the leading Swiss organic trade fair, the company now wants to underline its commitment to sustainability once again.
