Desire for print

In his laudatory speech, Klaus-Peter Nicolay, Editor-in-Chief of "Druckmarkt Schweiz," paid tribute on behalf of the jury to the winners of the awards and the large number of entries. Even the works that did not win awards were not inadequate printed matter, but cleanly produced works that perhaps only lacked a sparkling idea, a bit of originality or the coherence of the overall appearance beyond today's usual standard, said Nicolay.Printed matter is as appealing, eventful, transformable, diverse and of a high quality as no other medium. Print offers orientation, appreciation, individuality, exclusivity, sustainability, loyalty, passion, inspiration and entertainment. In short, print is a permanent fixture in the media mix and appeals to all the senses as an impulse generator for all types of communication. Agencies, publishers, printers, finishers and bookbinders demonstrated this with their imaginative print products at the "Swiss Print Award 2018" competition. These vividly demonstrate how attractive printed paper can be - and thus "whet the appetite for print".
