Audiokanzlei founder launches award for the podcast industry

Podcasts are widely used throughout Switzerland as well as internationally. Now Dino Giglio, owner of the podcast agency Audiokanzlei, is launching the "Suisse Podcast Awards" to honor the best podcasts in Switzerland. He also wants to make a variety of Swiss podcasts widely accessible in a new app.

More and more people are listening to podcasts. And more and more media groups, as well as companies, associations, NGOs and private individuals, are launching new formats. In Switzerland, there are already well over 500, and the number is rising. The special interest environments in podcasts, the increased attention as well as exclusive placements ensure high advertising impact. "Podcasts are closer, faster and more personal than almost all other forms of digital information gathering and online entertainment," says Dino Giglio. The 36-year-old is a lecturer in audio marketing at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich HWZ and has been running the podcast agency Audiokanzlei since 2019.

Now Giglio is launching an award for the podcast industry: "With the Suisse Podcast Awards, we want to honor the best of a young and fast-growing industry and be a platform and community for them at the same time." An independent jury will award Swiss podcasts in six categories, specifically "News", "Life", "Society", "Sports", "Entertainment" and "News". In addition, two special awards are planned, a diversity award and a community award. "And, of course, there will be an overall winner, the Suisse Podcast of the Year," Giglio said.

The jury of the Suisse Podcast Awards is a multi-faceted representation of the Swiss media landscape. It includes Rosanna Grütter, Gion Cavelty, Karin Müller, Marc Lehmann, Fatima Montandon, Florian Wanner, Gabriela Mennel, Martin Tillmann, Sylwina Spiess and Sandro Spaeth. The jury president is Dominique von Matt, entrepreneur, president of the Society for Marketing, honorary professor of marketing at the University of St. Gallen and member of the board of directors of the NZZ media group.

App for Swiss Podcasts

In addition, Giglio is launching "Suisse Podcasts." The app is an "independent, curated platform for Swiss podcasts," according to a communiqué. Until now, good Swiss podcasts had to be painstakingly collected, it said. "We want to be a platform that seeks out the best Swiss podcasts, curates them and makes them accessible to a broad audience - a candy store for the ear, so to speak," Giglio explains. The app is available in all known app stores.
