Eastern Switzerland Radio and Television Award 2021 goes to Gian Ehrenzeller

Gian Ehrenzeller, photographer at the Keystone-SDA news agency, has been awarded the Eastern Switzerland Radio and Television Prize 2021. The prize, endowed with CHF 10,000, will be presented on December 8 at Pfalzkeller in St. Gallen.

Ostschweizer RadioBorn in Buchs in 1987, Gian Ehrenzeller creates "unmistakable, authentic and pointed visual statements", according to the program committee's statement. Ehrenzeller is not a specialist photographer. He covers everything in Graubünden and Eastern Switzerland: from the Appenzell New Year's Eve lice to the World Economic Forum in Davos.

After completing his commercial apprenticeship, Ehrenzeller first worked as a journalist at the Werdenberger & Obertoggenburger and completed the MAZ print journalism course in Lucerne. He has been employed by Keystone-SDA since 2014. He lives in Valens SG.

The Radio and Television Prize has been awarded annually by SRG Ostschweiz since 1952. The prize is awarded to people who have made exceptional achievements in the field of audiovisual media. They must either have roots in Eastern Switzerland or have made an outstanding contribution to an Eastern Swiss topic. The prize is sponsored by the cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus, Graubünden, St. Gallen and Thurgau.
