Restaurant Landhaus Liebefeld: "Milestone" tourism award for delivery service

The Landhaus Liebefeld restaurant receives the Swiss Tourism Award "Milestone". The Landhaus team received the Corona Special Prize, an award for courageous innovation in times of crisis. The restaurant's "zero waste" home delivery service, launched before the Corona lockdown, won over the jury.

The joy in the team of the restaurant Landhaus Liebefeld is huge, tonight the idea of the home delivery service was honored with the Corona Special Award. The award was presented in the Kursaal Bern during the festive Milestone award ceremony. Host Tom Christen is pleased: "For our whole team it is a great honor and appreciation of our work, it makes me very proud. Back then, we threw ourselves into the delivery service adventure with no experience, but with a lot of verve, and with great success."

The Landhaus team launched a "zero waste" home delivery service and takeaway offer in March 2020 virtually overnight and before the official lockdown. The food is freshly prepared on fine china plates and delivered to the customer, and the delivery service does not use any plastic or packaging material at all. The empty plates are collected again after the meal. The team thus took on a pioneering role; the Landhaus was the first restaurant ever to offer this service. The feedback was correspondingly positive: "The joy in people's eyes when we rang the front doorbell and brought the food was simply beautiful." For three months, the Landhaus team cooked for birthdays, candlelight dinners or family reunions and delivered the food independently with their personal cars.

The delivery service has been so successful that it is still part of the concept at Landhaus Liebefeld today, says Tom Christen: "Thanks to the delivery service, we were able to cushion the loss of sales due to the lockdown to some extent. I was particularly happy that we didn't have to announce any layoffs and were able to reduce short-time work. It's also an important project for the motivation of our team."

3D printer as Koc
The Landhaus team does not want to rest on its laurels. The next innovative project is already in the starting blocks. Recently, the sustainably designed Bernese gourmet restaurant "Le Caveau" was reopened in the vaulted cellar of the Landhaus Liebefeld. This season, a special premiere awaits: A 3D printer makes its debut as a "chef" and creates vegan and other dishes. In the restaurant, sustainability as well as digitalization merge, and new standards in gastronomy are set.
