"Passwang, fog wave" by Switzerland Tourism is the best PR image 2021

For the 16th time, the dpa subsidiary news aktuell is presenting the PR Bild Award for outstanding photography by companies, organizations and PR agencies. "Many of the 2021 shortlist images would not have been created without the pandemic experiences of the past almost two years. The 28,000 votes also show that 2021 was another special year, surpassing all previous votes," says Eljub Ramic, managing director of News Aktuell (Switzerland).

"This year's winning photos tell sad but also cheerful stories and trigger - perhaps even more than in the past - strong feelings in us. They inspire us with expressive motifs, convince us with professional craftsmanship or provoke us with surprising imagery. What they all have in common is that they have once again raised visual storytelling to a new level."

The photo from Switzerland Tourism entitled "Passwang, wave of fog" convinced the jury and the public alike and achieved the best overall rating for Switzerland. It also took first place in the travel category. It was photographed by Jan Geerk.

André Hefti, Head of Marketing & Productions at Switzerland Tourism, says: "We are very happy about this award. Due to the specific topography and the corresponding weather conditions, we in Switzerland are lucky to be able to experience this unique phenomenon of autumnal waves of fog. The Jura mountains are predestined for this due to their mountain shapes. But of course, a lot of things had to come together for this shot: High fog line, a stable atmosphere, certain wind conditions, to name just a few factors. And a bit of luck: photographer Jan Geerk was in the right place at exactly the right time, with the right equipment."

news aktuell announced the winning images of this year's PR Bild Award via video stream. The digital award ceremony was hosted by emcee, performance artist and journalist Michel Abdollahi. In the 30-minute YouTube premiere video, Abdollahi announced the first three places in each of the categories Lifestyle, NGO Photo, Portrait, Travel, Social Media Photo and Stories & Campaigns, as well as the best PR picture of the year from Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

This year's winner for Germany was the picture #TheOtherVulva - Together against Female Genital Mutilation, submitted by the children's aid organization Plan International and photographed by Sarah Fürstenberg.

The best PR picture of the year from Austria is the photo "Freedom" by Josipovic Photography, submitted for the Landestheater in Linz. It was photographed by Robert Josipovic.
