Cannes Lions: Currently four times shortlisted and one Bronze Lion for Switzerland
At the end of the first day of the Cannes Lions Festival 2021, the medal table counts four shortlist entries for Switzerland. The first Lion, a bronze one, was taken by the agency CRK.
On Monday, the Cannes Lions Festival 2021 has started. This year, 29,000 works were submitted from 90 different countries, 177 of them from Swiss agencies. Although with the Corona-related cancellation of last year two years are evaluated, these are significantly fewer submissions than two years ago. At that time, there were a total of 30,953 - and 284 submissions from Switzerland. (Werbewoche.ch reported).
Shortly before the start of the festival, the first shortlists were published on the Cannes Lions website over the weekend. Neutral Zurich, which together with Heimat Berlin submitted the work "Hornbach 'Democratic Art - An Ai Weiwei for Everybody'", was awarded a place on the shortlist in the "Print & Publishing" category.
First bronze lion goes to CRK
In the "Pharma" category, the film "The eventful life of Rosemarie" by CR Kommunikation and Roof Studio Brooklyn received two shortlist nominations, namely in the subcategories "Film Craft: Direction" and "Film Craft: Animation / Visual Effects". In the latter subcategory, a Bronze Lion followed on Monday, making CRK the first Lion for Switzerland.
In addition, another shortlist placement was awarded to Switzerland on Monday: In the "Creative Data" category, Havas Genève can hope for a Lion with its work "Waiting Wins" for Canal+. It will be known on Tuesday whether Havas will win a Lion.
In the previously published categories "Design", "Outdoor", "Titanium", "Glass: The Lion for Change", "Health & Wellness", "Innovation", "Creative Strategy", "Direct", "Media", "PR" and "Social & Influencer", the Swiss entrants came away empty-handed this year.
Fully digital festival
Monday's award show marks the start of this year's "Cannes Lions Live" and is the first of five award shows that will take place during the week. Each show will be followed by broadcasts in which the jury will analyze the works, as well as interviews with the award winners.
