When Christoph Spycher, a former Swiss international and Bundesliga professional at Eintracht Frankfurt, took the helm as sports director in September 2016, YB had been stuck with the image of perennial runners-up for years. But then things took a steep upward turn for YB.

The Bernese have now won the Swiss soccer championship four times in a row. The media, the sports world, they are all full of praise: Christoph Spycher is uncomplicated, friendly, competent, modest... "The current success is not a matter of course. There is a lot of hard work behind it and, above all, a well-rehearsed team", this answer in an interview is emblematic for him, for his team spirit, for his modesty, as the Bernese Public Relations Society BPRG writes in a statement.

For BPRG Vice President Benjamin Blaser, one thing is clear: "Christoph Spycher will go down in the annals of YB not only because of his sporting successes. He has written Swiss football history and set milestones in Bern - and he is also convincing in terms of communication with his emphatic and always fair manner. No wonder he is held in such high esteem both within the club and by the fans and media..."

This year, the BPRG awarded Christoph Spycher the 11th Bernese Communication Prize for his achievements.

Every year, the BPRG awards the Communication Prize to a person who has achieved exceptional communicative achievements without the need for specialist training. The prize winner demonstrates his or her communication skills in a talk with Sonja Hasler and receives a specially created work, this year designed by Bernese illustrator Boris Pilleri.
