Promotional Award Young Graphic gives full commitment

Great graphics are made in Swiss training centers - the creators of the Young Graphic Arts Award are convinced of this. This fall, therefore, a prize will be awarded for the first time for graphic talents in training.

The idea of the award is simple: Young graphic talents should be able to show their works outside of school, study or apprenticeship. The Färder Prize is therefore aimed at all graphic artists and students throughout Switzerland. In addition to small cash and non-cash prizes, the 30 winners can look forward to an exciting audience: ≪The winning works will be presented as part of a traveling exhibition at various schools and published in a separate publication. The winning works can also be seen on our website≫, explains board member and graphic designer Loana Boppart. ≪But above all, it is also important to us to offer the young talents the opportunity to network with each other and with important people in the scene. The award night and after party offer them a great opportunity to do this.≫

The long road to the award

The winning works will be selected by a jury of Swiss graphic artists. In addition to big names such as Felix Pfaffli, Marion Fink, Jonas Vogeli, Valeria Bonin, Demian Conrad, Dennis Moya and Larissa Kasper, the two up-and-coming graphic artists Lena Ruppen and Audrey Fleur Ljubenovic will also have their say in the selection process.

Behind the Junge Grafik project is an association of eleven mostly young representatives and experts of the Swiss graphics scene. As simple and necessary as the project of the non-profit association may sound, the journey from the first idea to the award was challenging: ≪Since the award is to be supported by all institutions and will remain a non-profit cause, we had to convince all schools and partners of this idea and worked closely with the two professional associations SGV and SGD≫, says board member Remo Stahl. ≪At the same time, we had to find patrons and foundations to finance the overhead costs.≫

Call for Entries: The works of young people are in demand!

The association has now succeeded in doing both - and so the only thing standing in the way of the Award Night on October 9, 2021 is the pandemic. But Meret Fischli is convinced that even this hurdle will be overcome: "We are broadly positioned in a wide range of areas - from the web and print to events, social media, and traveling exhibitions. This makes us more flexible than long-established events.

In mid-March, the Call for Entries is open at Boygraphics.ch started. ≪We are really looking forward to the many great works that we hope will arrive - after all, we have been working towards this moment for almost two years≫, says Meret Fischli happily.
