362 Swiss submissions are reported by Cannes Lions this year. This year, the festival will be attended by 95 Swiss representatives - significantly fewer than in the past two years.

Not only in terms of physical presence, but also in the competition, Switzerland is starting with the handbrake on. On the shortlists for the Innovation, Glass and Titanium Lions categories, one searches in vain for a Swiss representation.

The first success story then came in the Health competition: Switzerland was awarded a place among the 158 shortlisted entries in the category of Health & Wellness Lions hope for a lion. GSK Consumer Healthcare Nyon made it onto the shortlist with "Umpire" as a Film: Cinema, TV and Digital Film Content in the range Health - OTC Products/Devices for the product Voltaren managed. The idea was developed by Saatchi & Saatchi Switzerland Lausanne and the production was realized by Patriot Film Cape Town.

The Saatchi branch in French-speaking Switzerland has good memories of Cannes: In 2015, the agency cleaned up in a big way on the Côte d'Azur and not only won gold twice with the HIV blood print of the gay magazine Vangardist, but at the end of the year also the creative ranking of Werbewoche (Werbewoche.ch reported). At the Health Lions, too, the result was two silver medals and one bronze medal - but even then the health competition did not count towards the ranking.

Three agencies in waiting position

At the main Cannes Lions competition, three Swiss agencies may join the list of potential Lion winners:

Wirz can look forward to a "Print & Publishing" Lion with the M-Budget Mobile-Campaign "More talking less texting" in Consumer Services for the customer Migros Genossenschafts-Bund hope.
