Zurich Journalism Prize publishes the list of nominees

The jury of the Zurich Journalism Prize nominated eight works from the 350 entries received. In addition, three candidates were chosen for the Newcomer Award.

On May 15, the time has come: the 2018 Zurich Journalism Prize will be awarded. The number of interested parties has increased significantly since the prize began accepting entries from all over German-speaking Switzerland. The announcement of a prize for young talent has also given the competition a boost, according to the press release.

A total of 350 entries were submitted this time. It has now been decided which journalists have made it onto the shortlist. The jury has nominated eight entries for the Zurich Journalism Prize and three for the Newcomer Prize. These are the candidates:

Zurich Journalism Prize

  • Sven Behrisch: Crawl and peace, The magazine
  • Christof Gertsch: The discovery of speed, The magazine
  • Hannes Grassegger: Imagine there's a war and nobody notices, Das Magazin
  • Annika Joeres: The night of terror, NZZ
  • Christian Keller: New lead on Schweizerhalle fire, Basler Zeitung
  • Barbara Klingbacher: The last course, NZZ Folio
  • Martin Stoll: Mehmet becomes Tobias, Sunday newspaper
  • Oliver Zihlmann, Catherine Boss, Christian Brönnimann, Alexandre Haederli, Julie Jeannet, Marie Parvex, Mario Stäuble, Hannes von Wyl: Paradise Papers (Series)Tages-Anzeiger, SonntagsZeitung, Newsnet

Three of these works will receive the prestigious Zurich Journalism Prize in Zurich on May 15, 2018.

Newcomer Award

  • Kevin Brühlmann: Mais pourquoi?, Soccer Magazine Twelve
  • William Stern: Mr. Lötscher is afraid - the fight of a Lucerne pensioner against the burqa, Watson
  • Lisa Stutz: Jeanette, a life for the plate, Wohler Anzeiger

One of these works will receive the newly launched Newcomer Award in Zurich on May 15, 2018.
