Venue, program, jury, procedure: Swiss Sponsorship Awards in a new look

After five years of existence, the Swiss Sponsorship Awards have given themselves a new direction: A new venue, a new program, an expanded jury and a new procedure give the awards a new sparkle.

Sponsorships are ultimately about a commitment to society from which the sponsoring company should also benefit directly. In line with this core idea, the Swiss Sponsorship Awards have been recognizing the best sponsorships in the categories of sports, culture, society and international every year since 2012. Until now, the jury alone has determined the winners, with the exception of the audience award. From the sixth edition onwards, the weighting of the jury will only be 50 percent. The participants present at the Swiss Sponsorship Awards will make up the other 50 percent and will be able to vote directly at the awards on which sponsorship should win.

To make this logistically possible, the organizers have decided on a new venue. On February 8, 2018, the Swiss Sponsorship Awards will therefore be held for the first time at the Park Hyatt Hotel in the center of Zurich.

According to the announcement, the procedure for how nominations are made has also been improved: Each company and agency can apply until December 3, midnight, directly on the Website register. The jury - which will be expanded to twelve members with Lars Stegelmann from Nielsen Sports, Anja Janoschka from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Claudia Lässer from Teleclub and one of the most renowned experts on the cultural scene, Pius Knüsel - will nominate a short list per category from the suggestions received and on the basis of its own observations and analyses, and announce it in January 2018. As a new feature, the previous year's overall winner will also sit on the jury for one year. For the first time, this honor will be bestowed on Marco Parroni, Global Head Sponsoring of Julius Baer, who won the fifth Swiss Sponsorship Awards.

The Swiss Sponsorship Awards will again be moderated by Mascha Santschi and jury president Patrick Cotting on February 8, 2018. The focus of the forum before the Awards will be on the challenges of cultural sponsorship in Switzerland. To this end, the CEO of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Mathieu Jaton and the COO of the Locarno Film Festival, Raphaël Brunschwig have already agreed to present their views and the challenges they face in developing their marketing and sponsorship strategies. There will also be a panel on the preparations for the Formula E race in Zurich and the Sion2026 Olympic bid.
