The 2018 annual theme is "Cooperate. Innovate." Not only "Best of Swiss Web", but the entire industry is increasingly focused on cooperation in order to be able to cope with increasingly complex structures, the press release states. This development is therefore to be incorporated into the assessments this year, in addition to the high quality of the technical, conceptual and design solutions.

The categories of the Best of Swiss Web Awards

The categories of the "Best of Swiss Web Awards" are based on common agency skills. Thus, a project that scores with media, visual and functional relevance fits the categories of Creation, Innovation and Usability: A stage for projects that take a surprising approach to the Internet and thus promote the appeal of the medium. Developments that support business-relevant processes, meanwhile, fit into the categories of Business and Marketing. This is about tools that measurably enable a company to do new business or improve existing processes.

The categories Public Affairs, Data & Technology Driven Campaigns (Cyber Selection, powered by IAB and LSA) and Digital Media Campaigns (by IAB and LSA), on the other hand, evaluate whether a brand and its message reached the right target group at the right time. The juries keep an eye on whether messages have been conveyed to women and men as precisely as possible.

The remaining three categories have a self-explanatory designation. Technology is perhaps the most original category of the Best of Swiss Web Awards; the name says it all. Here, the focus is on the technical quality of web projects. The focus can be on sophisticated functionalities as well as a demanding scope. Meanwhile a classic is the category Mobile. The jury will judge browser-based projects that can be used on mobile devices, i.e. mobile websites, mobile services, mobile applications and web apps.

And then perhaps the most trendy element of the Internet at the moment: VideoIn this category, web videos and moving image platforms can be submitted, i.e. creative online and mobile spots as well as professional web and mobile TV formats and channels. On the one hand, projects are evaluated and awarded, which on corresponding video platforms the respective users in an original way. On the other hand, broadcasting projects - for example, own YouTube video channels - will also be evaluated.

The jury process of the Best of Swiss Web Awards

All submitted projects undergo a two-stage judging process. This is the responsibility of the respective expert panels per category, consisting of around ten experts and specialists. A total of more than 100 jury members and the sophisticated jury process are intended to guarantee the highest degree of objectivity in the awarding of the gold, silver and bronze awards. Of the winning projects, the best will be entered into the race as candidates for the Master title. The "Master of Swiss Web" is finally awarded in a multi-stage jury and public vote.

Switzerland's best web projects and campaigns are selected for the 18th time. The award is considered the oldest digital award in Europe and the most important award in the Swiss digital and communications industry. The fact that this year two important award ceremonies will be added to the Best of Swiss Web Award Night ("Advertiser of the Year and "Goldbach Crossmedia Award"), takes account of the fact that digital and analog marketing are moving ever closer together.
