The "Year of Advertising" becomes the "Econ Megaphone Awards

Econ Verlag is giving its competition for communication and advertising a new name: Instead of "Year of Advertising," it will be called "Econ Megaphon Awards" in the future. This year, too, newcomer agencies can take part free of charge.

"In the fall, we are launching our new website, where we will be able to present the work included in the competition in a much better and more comprehensive way," announces Econ publishing director Jürgen Diessl. This will include an extensive magazine section with editorial portraits of award-winning submissions and teams.

In addition to the competition entries themselves, the presentation of the agencies and creatives involved plays an important role: "We want to give clients in particular a helpful tool for orientation."

Econ does not rely solely on online, but replaces the yearbook with the Econ Branchenvergleich, a bundle of books divided into four market segment groups. It contains the works curated via the competition and compares the assigned industries.

"With the Econ industry comparison, our participants receive a publication that not only looks good on the shelf, but above all is much easier to work with. A simple example: If in the future I can only send the part that is relevant to me to potential customers, and no longer 600 pages as before, then this increases the perception and it reduces the costs by a lot. For the award winners and the best in the industry, individualization of the covers is also planned - this will also increase the attention of the recipients."

Newcomers join in free of charge

Agencies established after January 1, 2015 can apply (free of charge) for the prestigious title of the Newcomer agency of the Year. In the last competition, the award went to Switzerland to Freundliche Grüsse.

In addition, participation in the regular competition remains free of charge for new agencies. "With a good 28,000 euros, we thus supported newcomers in the last competition and four of them were able to take home a megaphone at the end. Eligible for the competition are works that have been used in DACH since October 2016. An independent jury of experts, made up of clients from the corporate side, creatives and strategists from agencies, and representatives of the media and trade media, will evaluate and award the best works with the Econ Megaphon Awards in gold, silver, and bronze. Integrated campaigns also have a chance to win the jury's Grand Prix. Agency of the Year in the last competition was Heimat Berlin. This year, Werbewoche Editor-in-Chief Anne-Friederike Heinrich is also a member of the jury.

The deadline for registration or submission of competition entries is October 13, with the Early Bird promotion open until September 22. The registration takes place under Jdw.com. The award winners will be honored during the Winners' Dinner in Berlin at the beginning of February 2018.
