The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards were held for the 60th time this year, with participants from over 40 countries. The 2017 Gold World Medal went to two Swiss film productions, Avista Films and Seed.

The Geberit film "Time goes by. Quality remains." by Seed was awarded gold in the Introductions & Lead-In Titles category. Geberit uses the film to open local customer events in markets outside Europe. It tells the heart-warming story of a boy who is separated from his childhood sweetheart. But quality lasts for decades.

The Swiss Post brand film launched in March was awarded a Bronze World Medal in the Public Relations category. The film, also produced by Seed, tells the story of four customers whose lives are made easier by Swiss Post.

A second "Gold World Medal" goes to Switzerland in the Online Music Program category. The film "Equal our contribution to a vision" by Avista Films from Remetschwil won over the jury. According to the press release, Michael Spindler, director and cameraman, and Hubert Staubli, producer, are particularly delighted. But the musicians of the Chaarts Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Andreas Fleck, are also proud to be part of this success.

The film accompanies the music ensemble during their final rehearsals and the recording of their latest CD on the music island of Rheinau. The camera captures the people in a very unique, emotional way. It almost seems as if the audience is granted a glimpse into the musicians' souls, into the very heart of the music.

During filming, the director's wishes often gave the ensemble a questioning look, but also caused many funny moments. The team did not have much time available, as the rehearsal program was to be affected as little as possible. A high degree of flexibility and spontaneity was therefore required from everyone. Professional drone shots express the uniqueness and architectural aesthetics of the music island in harmony with the music.

Rose Anderson, the director of New York Festivals - World's Best TV & Films said of the film: "I watched Equal many times and found its message and style wonderful".

Basel Tourism won bronze in the "Film and Video - Industrial Productions" category with the film "The Revenge - Pokémon Go - Prank!" produced by Fadeout. The film has already won gold at this year's Best of Swiss Web Awards (Werbewoche.ch reported). (hae/pd)
