The jury of the competition "The Year of Advertising" awards Freundliche Grüsse as Newcomer Agency of the Year 2016. Home, Berlin remains undefeated: The Berliners take home four golds, one silver and two bronzes, securing the title of Agency of the Year again this year.

For the first time since 2008, a Swiss agency was able to prevail in the competition for the title of Newcomer Agency of the Year: Kind regards from Zurich (read the exclusive background interview with FG here). Founded in 2014, the 15-strong team around founders Pascal Deville and Samuel Textor looks after Brack.ch, Sonova, Allianz Suisse, Adidas, Axa Winterthur and the Social Democratic Party, among others. For the latter, there was also a trophy in the regular competition.

The newcomer award was presented by Anne-Friederike Heinrich, juror and editor-in-chief of Werbewoche, and Michael Barche, founder and CEO of last year's title holder Orange Council.

Heimat, Berlin remains unbeaten in the Econ Verlag competition: at yesterday's Winners' Dinner, the Berliners took four gold, one silver and two bronze awards, thus securing the title of Agency of the Year once again this year. They scored with the Hornbach campaigns "#Heldenkranz," "Du lebst. Do you remember?" and "Project Germany". Trophies were also awarded for the #PaintBack graffiti campaign for Legacy BLN (gold) and the FDP's Brexit poster (bronze).

Serviceplan follows in second place in the agency rankings. With gold for the UN's Iceberg Songs website and the Plan.Net Group's WhatsGerman app, and bronze for Saturn's "Sneak Preview," the Munich-based agency came in just ahead of Ogilvy & Mather. The latter convinced the jury with "My Fight Against the Right" (gold, bronze) and "This Time Belongs to You" for DB Mobility Logistics (silver).

Gold megaphones were also awarded to Scholz & Friends for "La Table Suisse" VEBU e.V. (digital campaign), Freundliche Grüsse for "Mit Links gegen Rechts" Social Democratic Party (social media activities), Kolle Rebbe for "Begegnungen" Aktion Mensch (film/viral) and Leo Burnett for Frankfurt Zoo's "Holoquarium" (innovation).

In total, "The Year of Advertising 2017" registered 403 works in the regular competition. Of these, 297 works make up the industry comparison, and from these 168 entries made it onto the jury's shortlist.

The jury, made up of clients from the corporate side, creatives and strategists from agencies, as well as editors from the media and trade media, evaluated the works and selected the winners of the Megaphone in gold, silver and bronze. The Grand Prix was not awarded this year.

All selected and awarded works will be published in the "Year of Advertising 2017" book, which will be published by Econ Verlag in April. The Work can already be viewed now.
