16 Cannes Lions 2017 jury presidents have been selected

Cannes Lions released the names of 16 2017 jury presidents on Thursday night.


Jose Papa, Managing Director of Cannes Lions, said: "We are delighted to present such an impressive team of Jury Presidents. Each of them has been selected for their skills and experience in their respective disciplines. Each member of this knows how to recognize creative excellence, having all been responsible for award-winning work themselves during their careers."

The individual jury presidents are presented below with a quotation. The jury presidents of the categories "Creative Effectiveness", "Entertainment" and "Innovation and Health". will be announced in the coming weeks.

Cyber Lions Jury President:

Colleen DeCourcy, Global Chief Creative Officer, Wieden + Kennedy, Global, says: "This is the 20th year that Cannes will have and it's been exactly ten years since I last presided over this jury. What I'm looking for in the works is some kind of proof of progress. Have we moved the ball forward? Are we more sure of what means, or less? My hope is to capture a progressive definition of this category that exudes the same kind of urgency and discomfort that it did in the early days."

Digital Craft Lions Jury President:

Henry Cowling, Creative Director, UNIT9, UK, says: "I'm looking forward to sitting down with some of the brightest people in our industry. And to the debates, the passionate defences, the jealousy and gnawing self-doubt that comes from engaging with the best work in the world. But most of all, I'm looking forward to representing the digital community."

Jury President Direct Lions:

Ted Lim, Chief Creative Officer, Dentsu Brand Agencies, APAC, says, "It's not rocket science. So I'm not going to make it look like that. We are looking for innovative business solutions, will ask: Is it different? Is it going to make a difference? Is it going to move people? Is it going to move business? We're not here to save humanity. But we're also not going to overlook something that reaffirms our belief in humanity. "

Jury President Design Lions:

Sandra Planeta, Founder & Creative Director, Planeta Design, Sweden, says: "I look forward to continuing to establish Design Lions as one of the most significant and influential awards in the industry. Jury President Film Lions:

Jury President Film Craft Lions:

Robert Galluzzo, Founder/Producer, FINCH, Australia, says: "True film craft is not found in the broad brush strokes, but in the very fine ones. I'm looking forward to an attentive jury that isn't just dazzled by the glitter of the big stuff. "

Glass Lions Jury President:

Wendy Clark, Chief Executive Officer, DDB Worldwide, North America, USA, says: "The Glass Lion challenges our industry to shift and change the culture. Perhaps now more than ever, society needs to hear, experience, feel and move the message of gender equality, understanding and acceptance. I can't think of anything more meaningful than spending my time looking for and awarding work that does just that."

Media Lions Jury President:

Mike Cooper, global CEO of PHD, Global, says: "Media is increasingly the key to successful consumer engagement. Mobile Lions Jury President:
