For the eighth time Easyfairs presents the packaging fair in Zurich.The packaging industry is growing: from 670 billion US dollars (approx. 630 billion CHF) in 2010, global sales of packaging will grow to 820 billion US dollars (approx. 771 billion CHF) by 2016, according to market research company Smithers Pira. The growth driver is, on the one hand, the rising demand for packaging in developing and emerging countries due to increasing prosperity and growing populations. On the other hand, the packaging sector in the western industrialized countries is benefiting from increasing variety and more competition at the point of sale (POS). With a high volume of demand, paper and board packaging forms the largest segment of the packaging industry worldwide. Here, too, the experts at Smithers Pira expect significant growth in the coming years.Contact exchange and impulse generatorThis market outlook also makes the printing industry in Switzerland optimistic. The most important signal is that print has potential and the industry is once again investing heavily in its future.
