Com-Ex as a trade fair says goodbye

Com-Ex, the Swiss trade fair for communications infrastructure, will not be continued. The need for a trade fair was not given, it was said.

The management committee (trade fair advisory board) of Com-Ex has decided not to continue the trade fair in this form, the company informs. After two successful runs in Bern in 2016 and 2018, the continuation over the pandemic period had to be repeatedly adapted to the circumstances or postponed.

The planned third Com-Ex as of September this year could not be held due to the more difficult starting conditions after the pandemic period and partly last-minute cancellations by important exhibitors. At the extraordinary meeting on November 10, the advisory board of the exhibition stated that the market had changed in that the benefit of a stand-alone trade fair was no longer given. The heterogeneous expectations among the various exhibitors made it even more difficult to reach a consensus on the Com-Ex strategy.

One dressing missing

The possibility of linking up with existing, larger trade fair formats in Switzerland was also evaluated, but was rejected again due to the given niche function of this specific industry. The organizers had determined that there was also a lack of an actual association for this industry, which would complicate the content, supporting program and strategic orientation for this industry sector.

Taking all these aspects into consideration, the Advisory Board of the Fair is of the opinion that the need for an independent trade fair for the communications infrastructure sector does not exist.
